PPF and ceramic look install-day fresh because of what happens after the install, not just on the day. Quarterly maintenance washes — done properly, with the right chemistry and an edge-by-edge inspection — keep the film bonded, the gloss high, and the XPEL warranty valid. Booked into our Watford bay around your driving year.
Touchless pH-neutral pre-soak lifts the heavy traffic film before any contact. The wrong shampoo at this stage is what dulls PPF edges over time. We use XPEL-approved chemistry only.
Soft microfibre mitt, grit guards, panel-by-panel. No automatic carwash, no kerbside jet wash, no hand-wash bay using one bucket for ten cars.
Brake-dust fallout and tar specks bond into the clear coat (or the film) within months of UK driving. Iron-X dissolution + tar remover lifts them without abrasion.
Every wrap line checked under LED for lift, edge contamination or trapped grit. Caught at the maintenance visit, an edge re-tuck is a 10-minute fix. Caught a year later, it's a re-install.
If your car has XPEL Fusion Plus ceramic, we refresh the sacrificial top layer with a fresh SiO2 detail spray. Restores the hydrophobic beading and the gloss.
The bits Topaz wash bay operators skip. Salt build-up in winter arches is what eats sill paint behind the film.
Streak-free glass clean. If you have XPEL PRIME XR Plus on the windows, we check for edge lift and brake-fluid contact (it happens) and dose the chemistry accordingly.
Light interior touch-up — dash, screen, console wipe, leather conditioner on bolsters. Not a full detail, but a maintenance reset.
The standard for daily-driven cars with PPF or ceramic. Hits the salt-and-grit cycles of UK winters. Recommended by XPEL to keep the 10-year warranty in good standing.
Sensible minimum for low-mileage cars — spring (post-winter) and autumn (pre-winter). The bare minimum to spot edge lift before it becomes a re-install.
For garaged or season-only cars (classics, trackday-only). One end-of-season visit to reset before the car goes back into storage.
Concours, Cars & Coffee, wedding, dealer trade-in. Booked-around-the-date single visit, machine polish optional.
Maintenance visits are quoted per car based on size, protection package and condition. Quarterly is the most common cadence — call 01923 911 341 for a written annual plan. Customers who had PPF installed with us get priority booking and reduced visit pricing.
Three things: (1) chemistry — we use XPEL-approved shampoos and decontam that won't compromise the film. Most hand-wash bays use a single bucket of harsh shampoo. (2) inspection — every PPF edge gets checked. A standard wash doesn't catch edge lift. (3) chemistry top-up — we refresh the sealant/ceramic layer, not just rinse the dirt off.
No. We'll take any car with XPEL film or a quality ceramic coating from another installer. If you don't know what's on the car, we'll inspect at the first visit and tell you. Bring it in.
Yes. XPEL's 10-year warranty requires the film to be maintained with non-abrasive, non-petroleum-based cleaners. Our maintenance washes are the official aftercare. We log every visit so if you ever need to claim, the maintenance record is on file.
We typically book the first maintenance at 4–6 months post-install. The film needs to fully cure (~48 hours) before any wash, then the natural-driving period is what shows up the first round of dirt that needs proper removal.
Yes — covered collection within Hertfordshire and NW London on request. Particularly common for second-car / weekend-car owners who don't want to drive in just for a wash.
