McLaren water-based paint is genuinely softer than European peers — micro-scratching from wash technique alone is a known issue, never mind stone-chips. The active aero front splitter on 720S/750S/765LT is body-coloured and replacement-only when damaged. McLaren bespoke colours (Burton Blue, Memphis Red, Ventura Orange) carry £10k+ uplift that doesn't survive even one major chip. PPF + correct ceramic on top is the only sensible way to drive one on UK roads.
