Where we put film on a M3 / M4
The panels we cover most often on a BMW M3 / M4: front bumper (including the controversial kidney grille surrounds), bonnet leading edge or full-bonnet, front wings, mirrors, A-pillars, rocker panels, rear arches, and on CS/CSL the carbon roof and carbon front splitter.
Model-specific things to know
- The kidney grille surrounds. The painted plastic around the grille chips on every G8x M car we see. We trim film right up to the grille opening.
- Carbon roof on CS/CSL. Carbon panels are technically ‘painted’ with clear lacquer — they chip and fade in UV. We apply matte or gloss PPF over them at the same price as standard panels.
- M xDrive splash. AWD M cars throw more spray onto rear quarters than RWD — Track Pack film on rear arches is worth it.
- The painted side skirts. M Performance carbon skirts crack on speed-bumps. PPF doesn't stop the crack but it holds the lacquer together when it does happen.
